Project Engineer - Ellicott City, MD

Job Description: Project Engineer – Ellicott City, MD. (Master’s or equiv. degree in Civil Engg, Structural Engg. or equiv. w/ 1 yr exp. in the job offered OR Bachelor’s or equiv. degree in Civil Engg, Structural Engg. or equiv. w/ 6 yrs exp. in the job offered). Job involves working with and requires exp. in performing: pavement & geotechnical design for new pavements, pavement condition surveys, pavement mgmt. Setting up test plans for pavement and soil testing. Analysis of traffic. Performing pavement performance data collection and analysis. Performing destructive & non destructive (seismic) testing of concrete pavements. Performing pavement design for new pavement construction, & rehabilitation to determine the overlay thickness, mix selection & rehabilitation type required for the roadway. Performing geotechnical engineering work by classifying soils from borings, test pits & preparing geotechnical reports. Preparing proposals, participating in marketing/business development & client mgmt. Responsible for PST (Project Selection Tool) for choosing various highway projects to meet the established lane-miles & benefit goals w/ the allocated State & Federal funds. Conduct Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and patching surveys. Analyzing roadway borings, soil borings & Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data. Calculation of pavements life cycles for different pavement types, rehabilitation activities & traffic levels in the network, as an effort to model long-term pavement performance. Providing data for various purposes including pavement system preservation report, highway statistics, maintenance planning. Designing, implementing & maintaining pavement mgmt. related databases in MS ACCESS & ORACLE. Developing algorithms & programs to optimize pavement rehabilitation plan based on cost benefit ratio using Optimization tool w/ SQL developer. Estimating engineering costs & material quantities for pavement rehabilitation & reconstruction. Implementing pavement performance modeling & prediction.
